Thermalite® ties are made from high impact-resistant
polypropylene (Grade FP36) plastic and have multiple functions within
the forming system. The ties are available in lengths for wall thickness
of 6, 8, or 10 inches. In section, they resemble an I-beam. Their
flanges are 23⁄4" wide and 53⁄4" tall.
The ties slide easily into place using only hand pressure. With the
flange ends exposed to the outside of the form-work, the combo ties
are inserted to 1⁄2 their width to act as guides and support
for the next layer of panels. The exposed flange acts as an attachment
point for bracing or for attaching exterior or interior finishes.
The interior bridge of the tie is used for the easy placement of the
#4 and #5 rebar. Corner ties allow simplified construction of 90³
